Construction

Thanks to a permanent circus tent made of steel and wood, Marchin is now definitively established as a circus village. The walls and roof of this unique construction for Latitude 50 are clad in brown impregnated pine from Lemahieu Group. Furthermore, the roof timbers were given a fire-retardant treatment to the required reaction-to-fire rating to comply with relevant fire regulations.

Fire-retardant impregnated pine

In order to achieve the required reaction to fire classification, it was given a fire-retardant pre-treatment by Lemahieu Fire Protection®. Based on the tests conducted by Stabilame, in collaboration with Buildwise, the wooden facades meet the required fire reaction class.

Then, the wood was impregnated with our Wolmanit CX-10, giving it a brown hue while not only extending its lifespan but also providing preventive protection against harmful external factors such as soft rot, fungi and larvae of wood-damaging insects.

Green Solutions Awards

This project has received the Green Solutions Awards 2023 in the “Building: Health & Comfort” category. In addition to the entire environmental design of the building (decarbonization, bio-based materials, eco-design, etc.), this award recognizes the notion of biophilia to optimize the well-being of the people who use or inhabit the building, such as performers, staff and audience members. Wood brings tranquilty and a warm atmosphere. The smart use of special techniques, sometimes high-tech during performances, sometimes low-tech during rehearsals. The design also ensures inclusion by including special wooden bleachers that can accommodate seats for people with reduced mobility. This allows them to enjoy the circus experience alongside other spectators, seated at the same level.
