Pine

Pine, like deal, is one of the most commonly used softwoods that comes in many different grades. Depending on the required quality, Lemahieu Timber Import will select this pine timber from sawmills in the far north (Northern Europe). The colder the climate, the more stable and dimensionally stable the timber.

 

We attach great importance to sustainable and responsible forest management. Therefore, pine from Lemahieu Timber Import always has FSC® or PEFC certification.

Whitewood (Deal)

Deal is one of the most commonly used softwoods that comes in many different grades. Lemahieu Timber Import imports this spruce timber from sawmills in the far north (Northern Europe).

Douglas

Douglas is one of the hardest softwood species and very suitable for indoor as well as outdoor applications. Our suppliers of Douglas in France ensure a sustainable balance and responsible forest management.

 

Our CE-marking means that we guarantee the best quality. To protect Douglas against, for example, wood rot and wood-destroying fungi, we can give it preventive preservation treatment by means of immersion or impregnation.

Western Red Cedar

Our Timber Import department purchases Western Red cedar from our regular partners in Canada, always PEFC-certified. We select the quality based on the customer’s requirements and the desired application.

Cedar shingles are also part of our range.

Douglas Fir

Douglas Fir grows in North America; we also call it Oregon Pine. It is one of the most versatile types of timber on the market and can be used for numerous indoor and outdoor applications.

 

To protect Oregon Pine against, for example, wood rot and wood-destroying fungi, we can give it preventive preservation treatment by means of immersion or impregnation.

Yellow Pine

The Southern Yellow Pine that Lemahieu Timber Import buys comes from vast Canadian forests that are not only economically important; sustainable forest management also has a very high environmental value.

 

Each batch of timber will undergo a visual inspection. SAPS (top quality) and PRIME are shipped by boat to our warehouses in Ghent.

Western Hemlock

The Western Hemlock we import from North America and Canada is 100% sourced from sustainably managed forests and is PEFC-certified.

 

As this timber is not very hard-wearing but highly moisture-resistant, Hemlock is used mainly for interior finishing and saunas.

Afrormosia

Afrormosia is very hard-wearing and suitable for indoor as well as outdoor applications. Its beautiful golden-brown colour can be a real eye-catcher in your home.

 

The Afrormosia that you purchase from us conforms to EUTR legislation.

Afzelia

There are five botanical Afzelia species on the market. We import the ‘Doussié’, which is the most hard-wearing species (Durability Class I).

 

This very hard-wearing and stable species can be used for indoor as well as outdoor applications.

Padauk

This timber’s beautiful coral red to purple-brown colour and very hard-wearing and stable properties make it particularly suitable for high-grade façade cladding and decking profiles.

Ipé

Ipé is one of the best-known types of timber from South America (Brazil) and is imported mainly from Brazil. Its Durability Class I and high stability make it extremely suitable for outdoor constructions, façade cladding, decking (around swimming pools), and outdoor joinery.

Walaba

Walaba is one of the strongest hardwoods (Durability Class I), with a lifespan of around 40 years. This Surinam timber contains a lot of oil and resin, which makes it very stable, and is frequently used for duckboards, architraves, fences, etc.

 

The Walaba that you purchase from us conforms to EUTR legislation.

Cumaru

This hard-wearing timber (Durability Class I) is yellow-brown to reddish-brown with a dark grain. Cumaru is sometimes offered as an alternative to Ipé and is used mainly for black constructions, acoustic screens, sheet piling, outdoor joinery, and decking.

 

We only purchase Cumaru from Brazil from suppliers who can demonstrate the legal origins of the timber, in accordance with EUTR legislation.

Massaranduba

This popular timber from South America (Brazil) is very hard-wearing (Durability Class I) and easy to machine. It is particularly suitable for heavy load-bearing structures, industrial floors, outdoor joinery, and hydraulic engineering works.

 

We only purchase Massaranduba from Brazil from suppliers who can demonstrate the legal origins of the timber, in accordance with EUTR legislation.

Itauba

Itauba, a tropical hardwood species, is very hard-wearing, strong, and stable (Durability Class I). Its colours range from beige-yellow to (dark) brown, and it is suitable for indoor as well as outdoor applications such as decking, construction, hydraulic engineering, façade cladding, etc.

 

We only purchase Itauba from South America (Brazil) from suppliers who can demonstrate the legal origins of the timber, in accordance with EUTR legislation.

Dark Red Meranti (DRM)

Dark Red Meranti is a collective name for many different species that are imported mainly from Malaysia.

 

The Dark Red Meranti that Lemahieu Timber Import purchases, ‘Select & Better,’ guarantees the better quality (qualities defined in accordance with the Malaysian Grading Rules) and is also PEFC-certified and conforms to EUTR legislation.

 

Dark Red Meranti is very suitable for indoor as well as outdoor joinery.
