The demand for fire-retardant timber keeps increasing. The excellent reaction to fire classification achieved by Lemahieu Fire Protection® (up to B-s1d0) ensures that the treated timber can be used both outdoors and indoors.
A nice example of this is the Ghent Upkot creation Ganda Upkot. a154 architecten and Upgrade Estate used cedar shingles (wooden slates) for the façade cladding and some interior accents. The shingles for the top floor and the interior walls were treated with fire-retardant in our autoclave in Ostend. The shingles give the building a natural appearance, in keeping with the surrounding garden. Inside the building, the fire-retardant cedar shingles form a beautiful eye catcher and ensure a natural appearance.
The 100% natural fire-retardant Burnblock®, which is used to treat the cedar shingles under vacuum pressure, has Gold-level Cradle to Cradle Certification.
